Talentmark are recruiting for a Senior Scientist, Compound Screening to join a clinical stage oncology biotechnology company at their site based in West London on a permanent basis.

Our client is developing novel tumour microenvironment targeted therapeutics. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to bringing novel cancer treatments to patients.

This Senior Scientist, Compound Screening role is located in West London.

Senior Scientist, Compound Screening Role:

You will help to drive early stage discovery programs and will assume responsibility and be accountable for the efficient and timely delivery of cell-based screening data to support drug discovery programs for oncology therapeutics.

This is a lab-based role with management of junior team member(s).

Your main duties will be to:

  • Weekly, high throughput plate-based assays to screen compounds in cell-based assays to support candidate selection
  • Data analysis and data quality control: analyse, interpret and save data to databases and electronic lab notebooks; adherence to standard operating procedures
  • Effectively present results and conclusions at project meetings to colleagues and senior management
  • Work in a fast-paced, team environment with tight deadlines
  • Work effectively in a small team with cross-functional team members
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines and quality standards
Your Background:

Essential:

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in a life sciences subject with additional biotech or pharmaceutical laboratory experience post qualification
  • Industry drug discovery experience
  • Experienced in high throughput plate-based assays to screen compounds in cell-based assays
  • Data analysis and data quality control
  • Protocol optimisation and troubleshooting
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Desirable:

  • Line management experience
  • Experience in cell-based models and co-culture assays
  • Cell biology and other basic molecular techniques eg, western blotting, ELISA, cytometry etc
