LC/MS Sample Prep Scientist
Talentmark are recruiting for a LC-MS Sample Prep Scientist to join a precision medicine company based near Manchester on a permanent basis.
Company: Our client is developing next-generation diagnostic tests to help clinicians prescribe the right drug, for the right patient, at the right time. They are developing LC-MS proteomic biomarker discovery platforms and clinical assays to predict drug response in a clinical setting.
The Role:
You will support the development of clinical assays for biomarkers by preparing samples for LC-MS analysis
Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis of clinical samples to identify new biomarkers for emerging drugs of interest.
- Coordinate with management and other members of the technical team so that sample analyses are scheduled and performed in a timely manner.
- Assist with the experimental component of projects, including experimental design, sample preparation optimisation and automation, and data interpretation.
- Assist with the maintenance of cell line stocks and generation of samples for method development and QC.
- Make process improvements and project efficiencies wherever possible and contribute freely to the team environment in a manner conducive to the success of company goals.
- Work with the product development team and quality manager to ensure appropriate systems, monitoring and documentation are in place during development of a test.
- Handling and management of samples, including organising storage, database logging and safe disposal.
- Educated to PhD level in a relevant field such as proteomics or protein biochemistry applied to the investigation of mammalian cell biology.
- Hands-on experience in sample preparation using proteomic workflows for LC-MS/MS analysis.
- Experience working with multiple sample types (e.g. cell lines, blood, fresh-frozen and/or FFPE tissue).
- Experience working to GLP standards and/or in an HTA-qualified environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of fundamental principles of biochemical and molecular biological systems.
- Ability to plan and execute experiments and analyses: possesses strong problem-solving abilities with an analytical mindset, and a logical approach to troubleshooting technical challenges.
